　　A series of three new stereo microscopes offer flexibility and speed and are designed for routine requirements as well as for detailed research purposes.

　　The Olympus (Hamburg, Germany) SZX16 research stereo microscope offers a range of functions, including florescence, micromanipulation, and documentation. With a numerical aperture (NA) of 0.3, and a resolution of 900 pairs per minute, the microscope has a zoom ratio of 16.4:1. Using the zoom mechanism and a range of parfocal objectives (0.5 x, 1.0 x, 1.6 x, and 2.0 x), it is possible to go from examining the whole organism to the cellular level and back with no major adjustments.
